Follow along as we go through the Center Stage sessions of HumanX 2025 in-depth. Starting with AI & Policy, which took place on Sunday 3/09/2025
If there’s one thing our inaugural HumanX event fulfilled, it was our promise of dynamic programming; between multiple stage presentations, onsite Masterclasses, and Interactive Sessions, HumanX 2025 hosted more than 300 hours’ worth of content. Odds are you weren’t able to do it all even if you were on the ground with us in Vegas, but this new blog series is here to help you brush aside your FOMO!
Center Stage was the heart of HumanX 2025, serving as a central focal point for both wayfinding and overall content. That is to say, our Center Stage sessions played a very large role in inspiring, informing, and influencing the next wave of AI innovation. And now’s your chance to explore these groundbreaking sessions in detail.
So, without further ado, we’ll begin with a session from the HumanX Grand Opening called AI & Policy: Navigating the Road Ahead. This session was moderated by Alex Heath of The Verge and featured special guest speaker Jay Obernolte from the U.S. House of Representatives.
Focusing on the complex and ever-evolving landscape of AI governance, AI & Policy addressed both the challenges and opportunities in creating ethical AI policies. But what exactly were the main takeaways from this conversation? Let’s take a look.
Global AI Regulation
There is a major need for cohesive global AI governance; currently, different countries throughout the world have varying regulatory frameworks–meaning international collaboration and compliance are at a standstill. If we can work together to establish a fair and agreeable framework for AI policy, innovation will skyrocket.
Ethical Considerations
The ethical implications of AI within today’s world was a very hot topic, particularly through the lens of accessibility and fairness. Congressman Obernolte emphasized the importance of transparency and accountability, as well as robust governance focused on responsibility. With these tools, AI will become much more accessible and accepted among the public.
Government and AI
Given the strategic advantages of AI, it shouldn’t come as a surprise that many government agencies are adopting AI into their daily operations. For instance, the Department of Veteran Affairs is utilizing AI to improve internal processes and care for veterans, serving as a case study for other government bodies to follow.
Looking Ahead
Representative Obernolte predicts that AI governance will expand beyond typical regulation to include comprehensive frameworks that address the social and ethical impacts of AI. This notion, Obernolte claims, will ensure that AI is accessible and beneficial to all levels of society.
This impactful session underscored the need for thoughtful AI policies–particularly, policies that maintain ethical standards while still uplifting innovation. In order to ensure that AI serves the greater good and is more commonly accepted among individuals, governance of AI MUST grow alongside it.
