David Vélez is the Founder, the Chairman of Nu’s Board of Directors and Nu’s Chief Executive Officer. Before founding Nu in 2013, David was a partner at Sequoia Capital, in charge of the firm’s Latin American investments group. Before Sequoia, David worked in investment banking and growth equity at Goldman Sachs, Morgan Stanley and General Atlantic. He holds a Bachelors of Science in Management Science and Engineering and a Masters in Business Administration, both from Stanford University.
