Filip Kaliszan is the chief executive officer and founder of Verkada. Since its founding in 2016, Filip has spearheaded the organization’s growth to seven product lines, 1,700+ employees, 16,000+ customers, and fifteen offices - two of which are now the headquarters for Verkada’s international expansion into EMEA and APAC. Filip’s leadership has led to Verkada being named a LinkedIn Top Startup four years in a row and listed as a best place to work by Inc. Magazine, San Francisco Business Times, and Fast Company.
A builder at heart, Filip created his first startup alongside two of Verkada’s other co-founders, James Ren and Benjamin Bercovitz, as only a sophomore at Stanford. The startup, CourseRank, provides college students an easy and convenient way to create and share their course schedule, take classes with their friends, read, and write reviews on classes and professors as well as find out how professors grade. In less than four years after building CourseRank, Filip and his partners sold it to Chegg.com, the number one online textbook rental company and the leading student-first connected learning platform. After the acquisition, Filip spent four years as a Director of Product Management at Chegg.
Filip holds both a bachelor’s degree and a master’s degree in computer science from Stanford University.
Filip is originally from Poland, was raised in Paris, and has lived in the Bay Area for the past 15+ years, where he currently resides with his partner and two children.
