AI systems are not neutral. Built on global data and deployed worldwide, they are governed by power concentrated in a few countries, with real consequences for women and marginalised communities in the Majority World. This roundtable draws on Nighat Dad’s frontline work addressing technology-facilitated gender-based violence and her experience in global platform governance to examine responsibility beyond Western compliance. The discussion explores accountability, human rights, and what meaningful AI safety looks like outside traditional policy frameworks.
