Dr. Schaefer is the CTO (Co-founder) at Lunar Ai and retired Chief AI Officer for VA VISN 15 and AI Solution Architect for the VA National Artificial Intelligence Institute. He obtained his doctorate in pharmacy from UMKC in 1999 and has practiced with the VA for 26 years. He has held numerous clinical, administrative and informatics positions including Chief Health Informatics Officer. He has focused on healthcare data and technology innovation much of his career and collaborates with numerous VA offices and academic institutions.
